You collect a faecal sample in the privacy of your own home using the collection kit we provide. You must follow the comprehensive instruction booklet included in the collection kit. If you have any questions you can call us to discuss the collection procedure. Once the faecal sample is collected and the collection kit is packaged according to the instructions, it should be taken to your nearest post office to post back to Bioscreen using the pre-paid label included in your collection kit.

It is best to collect a sample at a time when you have maintained your regular daily habits and diet for at least two weeks prior to sampling. This is because changes to your normal habits such short-term use of supplements, medications such as antibiotics and eating new foods can impact your gut microbiota. It is also important to try and collect a sample from a bowel movement that is typical for you.

The turn-around time for an FMA test is 2 weeks from the date the sample is received at Bioscreen.

Parasite testing will take 4-7 days.

Your report is sent to the practitioner that referred you for the test. A copy of your results can be issued to yourself or another practitioner you wish to nominate. In this case please contact Bioscreen for further details.

We do not provide dietary or medical advice to patients. Your health care practitioner is responsible for giving advice regarding the test results. Your practitioner can contact Dr Butt for a consultation to discuss the results. This is included in the cost of your test.

The results of your FMA test are not intended to be used to diagnose or treat medical conditions. This test will provide you with a detailed overview of which microorganisms are resident in your gut. This in turn may provide insight into your overall gut health.

The FMA test will report the live bacteria that we identify in the faecal sample you sent to us. The number of these bacteria (cfu/g) will also be reported.

The parasite test will report on the absence or presence of the seven parasites we test for if your sample.

Bioscreen uses culturomics to report the live bacteria in your sample. We count and identify these bacteria and compile it into a report. Other companies use DNA technologies, which do not distinguish between live and dead bacteria.

Our tests are not covered by Medicare or Private Health Insurance.
